Whilst it is my business and I am responsible for my own results (which I am extremely happy with), there is no shortage of assistance from Head Office when I require it, and I feel very comfortable knowing the backup is always there. When we first considered going into business for ourselves, buying a franchise wasn’t really on our list of possibilities. We’d heard a lot of horror stories about franchising from friends so we would have needed a lot of convincing that franchising were the way we should go. Also, since we’d had some experience in the finance field, we thought it would be easy enough to go it alone. Well, when we looked into it thoroughly, there were a lot of details that we needed to cover before even thinking about opening up, and they weren’t going to happen overnight. There are loads of government regulations to operate within, a dearth of appropriate off the shelf computer software available, apart from name, logo and advertising considerations. About this time we happened on a small ad in the local newspaper inviting expressions of interest in a franchise covering our area. It seemed to us like a good idea to compare what we’d get from this franchise with what we’d be able to get started on our own. After a number of meetings with Rick and Leonie, and much discussion between ourselves we opted to become part of Action Cash Loans. And we’ve had absolutely no regrets since. Rick and Leonie have been like mentors to us, offering help “above and beyond” to train us in the business’s systems, and generously giving wise advice on things to be careful about as we get established. They have also been incredibly fair in all their dealings with us, with at all times high standards of ethics and integrity. We couldn’t recommend them more highly. If you are out there thinking of doing this or wishing you could break from your current employer and even be their competitor then you most probably can! I did!!!!! After 8 years doing small cash loans for a major competitor I was still considered a pawn to use for the owners to make great profits, I was lead to believe I had signed documents which would stop me from being involved in the same industry, these documents I took to a solicitor and the rest is history. I now own and manage the Wagga franchise with several private investors topping up the limited amount I had to invest. I had previous experience in this industry which gave me the confidence and knowledge that this is a business that would succeed even with more competition, even though Wagga Wagga has a population of only around 60,000 people (much less then the bigger Regional Cities in Australia and suburbs of most Capital Cities). Within 12 months I have an excellent loan book of quality clients. My income returns are greater then the wages I was previously earning and on top of that my investors are getting a monthly interest payments that they are more then happy with .(If you don’t need investors means more for you ) I operate the Wagga Franchise as a one person, mobile operation from home. There are times when you need to work 40 -50 hrs a week and others where you might do only 10-20hours it depends on how much capital you have , how much advertising you’re doing and how fast or big you want to grow the business. If you are considering entering the market alone, there are many government rules and regulations that have to be met. It is getting far too difficult to dot the I’s and cross the T’s. Why bother when for a small set monthly licence fee the franchisors and their advisors keep us all legal and you do what you do best …earn money…with a Branch Network all marketing the same Brand!
